Two entrerrianas among those summoned for the U19 Women’s Basketball Team

The Argentine U19 Women’s Basketball Team will begin a new concentration towards the World Cup in Hungary to be held in August. In the final stretch of its preparation, with a total of 22 players mentioned, including two from Entre Ríos. The training sessions will be attended by Iara Navarro from Paraná, and Agustina Marín, a native of Gualeguaychú, as well as Tiziana Huici, from Corrientes who is part of the Tomás de Rocamora team, and will take place from next Tuesday until July 10 at the Cenard.

Argentina began its preparation in August 2020 with virtual trainings, being the first national team to officially train post-pandemic and that managed to carry out its first concentration during October. They trained for more than two months in Buenos Aires during the end of last year and in this 2021 they held two more concentrations, both in January and March / April.

Regarding the past payroll there will be a series of news. Joining Natassja Kolff (after spending the last months at Spar Gran Canaria de Tenerife), Martina Torres (she missed the previous concentration due to injury), Genesis Toledano (coming from the High School House Preparatory in Miami), Ianara Morbidoni from Rosario and Julia Sexe workshops of Banco Provincia de La Plata. Those who were not included in this new list are Fiamma Yaciura, Guadalupe Castelnuovo and Delfina Gentinetta, who had been summoned at the previous meeting that ended on April 8.

This will be the penultimate concentration of Argentina towards the World Cup, since then there will be a last meeting before the tournament that will begin on July 20 and that will then be extended with a trip to Spain days before to define final details of the team.

The World Cup in Hungary will take place from August 7 to 15 and Argentina was square within Group B of the tournament, sharing a zone along with Russia, Chinese Taipei and the host team. At the end of that first phase, they will access the round of 16, where they will cross to direct elimination against one of the A teams (Italy, Australia, Egypt and the United States) depending on the position they achieve in the initial group (1B vs 4A, 2B vs 3A, 3B vs 2A and 4B vs 1A). Then the quarterfinals, semi-finals and final will follow.
