Carolina Marín, after being operated successfully: “It went better than expected”

It won’t be the best photo I upload, but it’s important to me. What you see here is my knee, operated on 3 weeks ago. Those war wounds will remain marked on my body for a lifetime. I will see them day by day and I will remember the hours and hours of effort, of daily work, the thousands of resignations … And the great rewards that I will obtain. Because I will do it again.

Resilience is a strong word in my life, because especially in these last 2 years I have not had it easy: the injury to the right knee, the accident of my father, the pandemic, the loss of my father and now the injury in the left knee. But here we continue, without lowering our guard. Because many wars await us and my body is going to be prepared for it. Although it will not be easy.

I know it seems that I am the strongest in the world, but I am not. I have many moments of weakness and I have cried a lot, but I can tell you that behind those tears and that pain there is all the desire in the world to continue, not give up and come back. As soon as possible.

You will wonder when I will return. The answer is that I don’t know myself, not even the doctors themselves. When the time comes, I’ll be there, on my private dance floor, with my racket and shuttlecock in hand, giving my best version and enjoying myself again.

Thank you all for your daily support, for the thousands of messages that comfort me and fill me with energy. I hope I give you all a big hug. Surely not long from now. For now I send you the biggest virtual hug in the world.
