The second phase of the Federal Tournament is launched



Posadas and Gualeguaychú won their respective tenders and will be the headquarters of the two home runs that will open the round of 16 competition from next Tuesday 06/22.

The regular phase of this edition of our beloved Federal Tournament is coming to an end and the contest officially enters its second stage. Although group stage matches are still being played, four of the eight divisions have already finished the first instance and defined their qualifiers. These are the NEA, Entre Ríos, Centro and Cuyo divisions. This allowed two of the eight homers that make up the round of 16 have their members confirmed.

It is Quadrangular C, made up of Tokio by Posadas y Comunicaciones de Mercedes (first and fourth in NEA Division), together with Social and Deportivo San José and Luis Luciano de Urdinarraín (second and third in Entre Ríos Division); and Quadrangular D, made up of Central Entrerriano de Gualeguaychú, Regatas de Concepción del Uruguay (first and fourth in the Entre Ríos Division), together with Sarmiento de Resistencia and Colón de Corrientes (second and third in the NEA Division).

Following the regulatory procedure, the bidding documents for both home runs were received and after the corresponding evaluation, it was decided that the proposals from Tokio de Posadas and Central Entrerriano de Gualeguaychú were the best two. Therefore, Posadas was designated as the headquarters of Quadrangular C and Gualeguaychú as the host of Quadrangular D.

Both home runs will be played from Tuesday, June 22 to Thursday, June 24 in a free-for-all format. The two best classified of each homer will access the next instance. So far, in addition to the aforementioned teams, they also finished their regular phase and obtained the classification: Jáchal de San Juan, La Rioja Basket, Club Riojano, Amancay Club, July 9, Río Tercero, Gimnasia y Esgrima de Rosario, Independiente de Oliva, Sportivo Suardi, Los Indios de Moreno, Obras Basket, Boca Jrs and Independiente de Avellaneda.

As the regular phase of the rest of the divisions ends and the members of each home run are confirmed, the same procedure will be carried out to define the venue. According to the schedule, the contest will continue as follows:

Eighth Final
A – 1 of NOA / 4 of NOA / 2 of CUYO / 3 of CUYO.
B – 1 of Cuyo / 4 of CUYO / 2 of NOA / 3 of NOA.
C – 1 of NEA / 4 of NEA / 2 of ENTRE RIOS / 3 of ENTRE RIOS.
D – 1 ENTRE RIOS / 4 ENTRE RIOS / 2 NEA / 3 NEA.
E – 1 from DOWNTOWN / 4 from DOWNTOWN / 2 from METROPOLITAN / 3 from METROPOLITAN.
F – 1 from METROP. / 4 of METRO. / 2 from CENTER / 3 from CENTER.
G- 1 of BA / 4 of BA / 2 of SUR / 3 of SUR.
H – 1 of SUR / 4 of SUR / 2 of BA / 3 of BA.

Quarter finals
After the previous phase, the 16 teams will be ordered into 4 home runs as follows:
J – 1 and 2 of A vs 1 and 2 of B.
K – 1 and 2 of C vs 1 and 2 of D.
L – 1 and 2 of E vs 1 and 2 of F.
M – 1 and 2 of G vs 1 and 2 of H.

The two best are classified to the next instance.

Semifinals
The eight qualified teams will play 2 home runs as follows:
N – 1 and 2 of J vs 1 and 2 of K.
O – 1 and 2 of L vs 1 and 2 of M.

2 of each home run will qualify for the final stage.

Final 4
The four finalist teams will play the final home run. The best two will be promoted to the Argentine League, while the best will be the champion of the 2021 Federal Tournament.
