Defeated 5-4 by the Texas Rangers, one of major league baseball’s worst teams, the day before, the Tampa Bay Rays made sure not to be played the wrong turn a second time, Saturday in Arlington, by shutting out their opponents 3 to 0.

Starting pitcher Rich Hill has done his share of the job. In five innings on the mound, the 41-year-old has spent three batters in the mitt. Hill (5-2) only allowed three opponents to hit the trails, allowing two hits and a walk.

Reliever Diego Castillo got his ninth save of the season brilliantly, striking out all three hitters he faced.

In attack, Auston Meadows allowed two teammates to cross the plate, thanks to a single in the first set. For his part, Manuel Margot hit his fifth long ball of the season, in the eighth round at bat.

The Indians have fun at the expense of the Orioles

In Baltimore, the Indians enjoyed batting with 10 points in a 10-4 win over the Orioles.

The visitors had their best moments of the game in their third round at bat, as they had already taken a 2-1 lead. In quick succession, Harold Ramirez and Eddie Rosario hit single pointers. Soon after, Yu Chang allowed his teammates to cross the plate too, hitting his first homer of the season.

Even though he allowed the Orioles’ four points, gunner Aaron Civale earned the victory. In seven innings of work, he left four opponents in the dust, but he also allowed seven hits, three of which ended up out of bounds.

Coming in relief to John Means, injured in the first set, Adam Plutko is the one who allowed the Indians to push five points. Despite everything, the defeat went to the record of Means (4-2).

Elsewhere in Major League Baseball

In Philadelphia, a three-run Andrew McCutchen home run helped the Phillies defeat the Washington Nationals 5-2.

In Milwaukee, solo homers from Christian Yelich and Omar Narvaez in the eighth inning saw the Brewers defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-5. A total of six long balls were hit in that game. For his part, pitcher Brandon Woodruff spent nine batters in the mitt, in five innings of work.

In Chicago, three home runs against gunner Lucas Giolito saw the Detroit Tigers beat the White Sox 4-3. Despite the trio of long balls, Giolito passed nine opponents in the mitt, while his opposite screw, Tarik Skubal, scored 11 in the win.
