the essential
Teddy Riner, star of French judo, is a partner in the Toulouse School of Sports. Three new branches are announced in France. He takes stock of this commitment, in full preparation for the Olympic Games.

Why did you get involved in the Toulouse School of Sports, which also has campuses in Paris and Rennes?

The creation of these sports management schools is the story of my meeting with Franck Papazian and the MediaSchool teams, with the aim of enabling young people to turn their passion for sport into their profession. I have invested to create schools that match our ambitions.

How is the Toulouse School of Sports doing after this first year on the Jean-Jaurès alleys?

The Toulouse school is doing very well, despite the health context which was not obvious. For the start of the school year, we are expecting promotions of 20 to 25 students each. The subjects taught cover digital and all aspects of marketing and communication dedicated to sport. We offer an important focus on e-sport (competitive video games).

In which sectors of activity will your students find opportunities?

At the end of the 5th year, students can be recruited within agencies, clubs, federations, companies or even communities. They will be responsible for sports events, marketing and communication, including community management and press relations.

Are students from the school going to participate in the organization of sporting events such as the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, or the 2024 Games in Paris?

Of course ! Our students are on an internship or work-study program with partners from the sporting world in general, and the Rugby World Cup and the Paris Olympics are obviously major events.

What is your typical week, a few weeks away from the Tokyo Olympics?

I train twice a day and I alternate physical preparation and judo between Insep, the training site of the France team, the PSG dojo my club and Levallois, where I carry out my physical preparation sessions .

Are you still so committed to your projects?

This year, I reduced my trips, because in Paris it can quickly be counterproductive. I have also been very attentive to my diet, I have been maintaining my weight for a few months now, I have lost 26 kg in two years. We still have two stages to complete before we leave for training camp in Japan in mid-July. Each day of preparation counts to be there on D-Day.
