The Olympic Committee formed its refugee delegation: which countries do they belong to?

The International Olympic Committee confirmed who will be the 29 athletes from Afghanistan, Cameroon, Congo, Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, South Sudan, Syria and Venezuela, who will form the refugee team for Tokyo 2021.

The athletes come from 11 different countries and were chosen by the IOC Executive Committee of an initial group of 55, who received the IOC Refugee Athlete Scholarship. The athletes, who had to leave their countries due to different economic and social crises or military conflicts, will participate in the most important sporting event in the world representing the flag of the Olympic Games.
