The new coach of the Gießen 46ers introduces himself – FFH.de

It has been official for a good two weeks: Pete Strobl is moving from the basketball Bundesliga competitor Braunschweig to Central Hesse. He is the new coach of the Gießen 46ers. Today he introduced himself in the east hall.

The Gießen 46ers’ basketball players have had a tough season. In terms of sport, they were already relegated. With the wildcard they can now stay in the Bundesliga. And so that the traditional basketball club does not only fight against relegation in the coming season, faster, team-oriented basketball should come to the east hall under the direction of Pete Strobl.

No Braunschweig 2.0

Although the management team of Mittelhessen now with Pete Strobl and managing director and sports director Sebastian Schmidt, who also worked for Lower Saxony, has a lot of Braunschweig basketball history, the future in Gießen should by no means be a copy or “Braunschweig 2.0”, emphasizes the former US – American / Austrian basketball player Strobl. A new story is to be written in Giessen. The clear focus: a strong defense.

Passion and fighting spirit

“I hate to lose,” says the 2.06 meter tall family father of 4 kids when he introduces him to Giessen. So that that happens as little as possible, he will push the team. He wants to see passion and ambition on the floor. Then he selects his squad: “It depends on the character of the players – and that they are team players,” says the new coach in an interview with FFH. Incidentally, there are still some discussions going on. As of now, the squad should be ready for the new season in early / mid-July. And that will hopefully take place again with the audience: “The audience is so passionate about it”, he concludes.
