The Lou pact | NBA

There was a little scent of rebirth last night on the floors of Wells Fargo Center, the land of Lou Williams’ early NBA exploits.

Now seasoned veteran, the triple best sixth man in the NBA was the trigger for the Hawks’ comeback against Philly in Game 5, signing 15 points at 7/11 shooting, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals.

While he had considered retiring just three months ago, when the Clippers sent him to Atlanta to pick up Rajon Rondo, Lou Williams has finally shown that he can still be more than useful for a big deadline, the Hawks’ biggest so far.

“I stayed in the present moment, positive in relation to this experience and the pleasure that I take”, he explained when asked how he felt at the time. “I didn’t think too personally about how I was feeling. My reflection on my retirement was not because of a lack of technique, I always felt that I had a lot to give in basketball. It was more compared to where I was mentally, and I was studying the different options ”.

“I could say I played with Trae Young”

Within the pact which notably pushed him to resume the path of the parquet floors with the knife between the teeth, there was this prospect of rubbing shoulders with a young and also very talented group. A group that knew how to welcome him and help him find his best level.

“Hanging out with a lot of young people is contagious! They have been exceptional to me. They showed me their respect for what I had done during my career. They saw me as a teammate and as a brother. It feels good to be by their side. They help me feel comfortable, and it’s a lot of fun ”.

A nucleus of young talents led by a 23-year-old pack leader, Trae Young, author of an exceptional match, with 39 points and 7 assists! The opportunity for Lou Williams to pay tribute to this young wolf with long teeth.

” It’s a monster. It’s one of those things that I tell myself that when I get back into it again, when he’s a Hall of Famer and an established superstar in this league, I could tell that I’ve been part of that process, that I ‘ve played with him’, he slipped. “Being able to see up close what he’s able to accomplish on the pitch every night at such a young age, with that determination, that class, that confidence in his abilities. I am proud to be a part of it. He listens to me a lot and I try to help him as best I can with little advice from right to left. In any case, I am proud to have him as a teammate ”.
