Nuria was trained in the club’s quarry and after going through all the lower categories she reached the first team in the 2017-18 season. The young player stands out for her excellent individual technique, which has led her to score very beautiful goals during these seasons in which Nuria adds three titles to her record: an OK League, a Queen’s Cup and a European Cup, the last three achieved by the Gijon club.
The player has been gaining minutes which is not easy to achieve in a squad that has no less than five players: Sara Lolo, Natasha Lee, Marta Piquero, María Sanjurjo and Vanessa Daribo, who are world champions. “I am very happy because it is the club I have been in since I started hockey at the age of 9,” said the player after her renewal was made public. Nuria is aware that “it is difficult to have all the minutes one wants, but even if you are with five world champions it does not mean that I am not making an effort to achieve them.”
Nuria combines sport with her studies in Early Childhood Education and acknowledges that “this year was not the best in terms of results. Despite not having won a title, the important thing is the path we travel and learn together, but it is clear that we would have liked to win one ”. Especially, “the European Cup although we always go for everything in all competitions, I am satisfied with the work we have done throughout the year, it will be necessary to see what mistakes we have made to correct them for the next season”.
In this way, Telecable Gijón continues with its process of ensuring the continuity of most of the players in the current squad, including promising youngsters such as Nuria herself or Sara Roces, who has already entered the national team’s plans after a great season. .
The squad has already ended the season although it still has some advertising or social commitments before disconnecting completely. For the board of directors and the coaching staff, work does not stop to form the team for next season.
