It was 50/50 in his mind, and he had given himself 15 days to think about it. In the end, Stephen Curry decided to skip the Tokyo Olympics, and The Athletic announces that the federation will withdraw his name from the list of invited to the preparation camp.
World champion in 2010 and 2014, Curry had already skipped the 2016 London Olympics, preferring to treat his knees and ankles. After 18 complicated months due to the pandemic, he had expressed his willingness to stay with his wife and children, and to spend a summer recharging the batteries.
Even if Curry will not be there, just like LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler or Donovan Mitchell, Team USA will still look good with already the announced presences of Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Draymond Green and Bam Adebayo.
