Stephen Curry is apparently thinking about participating in the Olympic Games with Team USA

Due to the early season of the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, some NBA stars are already on vacation – and could therefore be available for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Warriors star Stephen Curry is apparently considering taking part, while LeBron James and Anthony Davis are more likely to sit out.

According to information from Joe Vardon from The Athletic Curry is still undecided. According to a source, the 33-year-old is “50-50” when it comes to participating in the Olympic Games, which will take place in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8.

Curry has never competed in the Olympic Games for Team USA in his career, so after two gold medals at the World Championships it would be his first chance for an Olympic medal. Since the Warriors could not qualify for the NBA playoffs in the play-in tournament, the Guard has been on vacation for a good two and a half weeks.

In the person of Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers, another high-profile athlete has “strong interest” in participating in the Olympics, according to the report, but a final decision is still pending for him too.

The star duo of the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, on the other hand, will probably pause. Although both belong to the provisional roster of Team USA and the Lakers also had to say goodbye to the playoffs, but loud The Athletic it is considered unlikely that they will be there in Tokyo.

Instead, the star duo apparently wants to recover after a season plagued by injury concerns. LeBron had already announced with reference from his new film Space Jam 2, Playing for the Tune Squad instead of Team USA this summer.

Team USA will definitely not have to do without star power. In addition to Curry and Lillard, Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson and Zach LaVine are also considered promising candidates for participation in the Olympics. Team USA’s preparations will start in Las Vegas at the beginning of July.
