Serie A: Gattuso leaves the bench of Fiorentina … three weeks after his arrival!

Three weeks, and then leaves. Barely time to visit the countless Renaissance buildings and works of art by Michelangelo. Gennaro Gattuso, who had taken control of Fiorentina at the end of May immediately after leaving Napoli, threw in the towel. The Tuscan club announced on Thursday the divorce from the former AC Milan midfielder and started looking for a new technician.

“La Fiorentina and Mr. Rino Gattuso, by mutual agreement, have decided not to follow up on the prior agreements and not to start together next season,” La Viola said in a statement. According to the Italian press, this separation is the consequence of great tensions that have arisen in recent days about the strategy to be implemented on the transfer market.

Gennaro Gattuso had announced to attach the services of the Portuguese Sergio Oliveira (Porto) and Gonçalo Guedes (Valencia, ex-PSG), both linked, like him, to the agent Jorge Mendes. The club for its part estimated that the amount of the transfer (20 M €) of the first city was much too high, that the operation was done behind the scenes, and that therefore the transaction would not go further. What displeased the Italian technician.

The latter, winner of the Italian Cup last year with Napoli, will not be the coach of Franck Ribéry. The former Munich player is keen to have his contract extended after two seasons in Tuscany.

To replace Gattuso, several names have previously been mentioned to lead the team of the recent 13th of Calcio: Claudio Ranieri (who has just left Sampdoria), Walter Mazzarri, Rudi Garcia and Andrea Pirlo.
