Today, Friday June 11th, the sixth day of the 2021 World Judo Championships, the last Olympic qualifying event at the Tokyo Games. Today’s program foresees the holding of competitions relating to the individual categories -78 kg for women and -100 kg for men.
Italy protagonist with the last athlete competing at the World Cup: Giorgia Stangherlin. The Venetian, fifth classified in the European Senior 2020 Championships in 78 kg, makes her absolute debut in a world championship with the aim of accumulating experience on the most prestigious stages of the international judo scene. Unfortunately, in fact, the draw was not favorable and already in the first round put an almost insurmountable obstacle in front of her, represented by the Japanese Mami Umeki, 2015 world champion and winner of the last Grand Slam in Tashkent.
