The outcry in view of the rampant violence at Dynamo Dresden’s last home game of the past season was great. The work-up is in progress. The police put pressure on, but do not see themselves as being adequately supported by Dynamo.

While the police department and public prosecutor’s office in the state capital started a large public manhunt on Thursday for 20 ringleaders from the serious riots on May 16, representatives of the football club were absent despite the invitation. “Everyone is probably going on with his routine,” said police spokesman Thomas Geithner, “a close shoulder looks different.”

During and after the third division game against Türkgücü Munich (4-0), there were massive riots in the stadium area. 185 police officers were injured, as well as journalists and uninvolved fans, the number of whom is not known. The riot had started from around 400 violent people who had previously celebrated the impending rise with thousands of Dynamo fans.
“Feeling left alone”
So far 160 perpetrators have been found, of which 120 are known. The police evaluated 82 hours of video material in a 50-person special commission (Soko). In addition, there would be several terabytes of data from external sources, the evaluation of which should take several months, said Enrico Lange, head of the Soko “Hauptallee” of the Dresden police.
Geithner said that anyone who does not work actively with the police is the association. A wanted poster was supposed to be put up at the fan shop at the stadium, to which there was no reaction. The first stadium bans, which were suggested three weeks ago, have not yet been negotiated on the grounds of “vacation”. Dynamo invalidated the Geithner criticism and was surprised. There have been a large number of meetings, discussions and measures in the past few weeks, said Dynamo’s commercial director Jürgen Wehlend. He didn’t want to leave the criticism as it was. Dynamo is renting the stadium and cannot decide whether to post it. The stadium operating company and licensees of the fan shop are the contact persons for this.
The stadium ban applications received by the police were processed and hearing sheets were sent to those affected. There is no basis for the police to be a member of the stadium ban commission and there would be no club at all, explained Wehlend.
After all, the processing of what happened on Thursday was also the subject of the handover of a funding decision for one million euros for the additional costs for the construction of the training center by Dresden’s Mayor Dirk Hilbert to Wehlend, as well as when the contract was signed for the payment of 1.5 million euros to the city Dresden to BAM Sports GmbH as operating aid to support Stadion Dresden Projektgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG for the next two years. This means that Dynamo, as the main tenant, can and must offer a competitive rent that is customary in the market. Both resolutions were passed by the Dresden City Council on June 11th.
“Don’t just go back to the agenda”
That is a clear signal to Dynamo, said Hilbert. “But it is also a fact that after the events surrounding our promotion to the second division we cannot simply go back to the agenda. I am therefore grateful that both those responsible at Dynamo and fan representatives have recognized the seriousness of the situation and that an intensive discussion process with all those involved will now get underway. Politics and administration will talk to the police and the association in the crime prevention council and the city council, “said the mayor.
Dynamo managing director Wehlend emphasized that they were still in the middle of coming to terms with what was happening. Both the club and the active fan scene have made declarations that they stand for respectful cooperation and non-violence. “Anyone who breaks the Dynamo Fan Charter is not Dynamo,” said Wehlend.

He announced a panel discussion with representatives from the club, the fan scene, the city and the Saxon Ministry of the Interior. In addition, Dynamo will appear before the city council on June 30th and July 1st to discuss measures together.
