The first part of the season ends for the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club with two Spanish championships in which the Soria club will be represented by up to six components.

The six players set out with different objectives, although the mere qualification for the Spanish championship is already a recognition of the sacrifice and work done throughout the season.

These championships have the peculiarity that they should have been played last season but that they should have been postponed as a containment measure against the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the ages for the determination of the categories are taken as a reference the year 2020.

The Palacio de Deportes de Santander will host the Spanish championships for both the U19 and U11 categories.

In the higher category, there are two Sorianas who have won the right to participate. It will be Beatriz Hernández and Nora Martínez who will compete in both the individual female and the double female modality. For Beatriz it will be her last competition in the category while Nora will have another chance at the end of the year. The two Sorianas, in the individual draw, will start against both rivals from Madrid while in the double they will face the Balearic Rio Abril and Paula Llavero.

At the same time, the Spanish sub11 championship will take place. Both Aarón Barrera and Iker González will take this competition as a possibility of gaining experience with a view to the next championship where players who this year already belong to the U13 category will not participate. Aaron starts as the third seed in singles and the doubles pair will be the second favorite.

The debut of the four athletes will take place on Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Spanish sub-15 championship will be held in the Huelva town of Moguer. Again, with the need to gain access to the championship with a very exclusive participation, Javier Barrios and Daniela Corchón achieved the pass.

Javier Barrios faces a competition in which he has high hopes of getting on the podium. In a very even category, both in individual and mixed doubles, together with Naroa Eraso from Navarra, Javier’s level can lead him to fight for the medals.

The sixth player in this exclusive group will be Daniela Corchón. The young player, winner of a master’s degree at the beginning of this month of June, aims to continue growing in her game with a view to upcoming championships. The draw has not smiled at the Soriana with a very difficult match in the second round.
