PGA: a first coronation for Garrick Higgo

South African Garrick Higgo scored his first victory on the PGA Tour on Sunday in South Carolina in the Palmetto Championship.

The 22-year-old golfer landed an eagle and a birdie, which allowed him to deliver a card of 68 (-3). He finished the event with a cumulative score of 273 (-11) and beat six opponents with a strike to take top honors.

“It’s incredible,” Higgo proclaimed at CBS after his victory. Throughout the week, I remained patient. I’m just happy I didn’t go into extra time. ”

The left-hander also took advantage of the collapse of Chesson Hadley. The American was installed at the first echelon of the general classification after three rounds. However, he played 75 (+4) to end his week with a total of 274 (-10) strikes.

“I just didn’t have it today [dimanche], Hadley analyzed. It was bad and I have to do better. I will do it! […] I was uncomfortable there and never really managed to hit good punches to try to calm myself down. ”

Nick Taylor had the best Canadian result. However, he had a more difficult last lap, giving it a 72 (+1) card. He concluded the competition nine strokes off the winner and tied with five other golfers at 44e echelon.

Roger Sloan, the other Maple Leaf Rep to qualify for the weekend rounds, finished the event at 52e rank, in the company of three opponents.
