Ortiz brothers make history at the US Open

Golfers Carlos and Álvaro Ortiz have made history in 2021. Well, starting this year, Both will be remembered as the first couple of Latin American brothers to participate together in the same edition of the US Open.

After he emerged as the winner on the PGA Tour, Carlos directly qualified for this Major, while Álvaro (a member of the PGA Tour Latin America) had to overcome the qualifying stages to be seventh in the final 36-hole classification at the Dallas Athletic Club with rounds of 68 and 69.

Regarding this historical fact, Carlos highlighted how much this means to him, his brother and his entire family.

“It means a lot, it is a lot of sacrifice, not only on the part of me and my brother but of my whole family and it is something beautiful that results like these are given so that we can both play a Major. Play well or badly, our careers last many years or few, I think my dad is proud that we never give up. We always look forward to it, we pursue our dreams and we leave it all out there “, commented Carlos.

For his part, Álvaro was surprised by how quickly time has passed since his parents instilled in him a taste for playing golf.

“All this work that we have done and all this process that we have carried out since I can remember, since my parents pushed us to follow this sport, I feel that it has been like the blink of an eye and we are here,” said Álvaro.

The Ortiz brothers, originally from Guadalajara, have already marked the history of Mexican golf with their participation in the US Open, but in the specific case of Carlos other great challenges are already looming in the near future, as the older of these two brothers will represent to Mexico in the next Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
