CHICAGO – The Chicago Bears gave their first draft pick Justin Fields a four-season contract on Friday.

The Bears were able to get their hands on their future quarterback by making a trade with the New York Giants to move up nine spots in the draft to grab the Ohio State University star quarterback in the 11th place.

For now, he is training with the reserve team, behind veteran Andy Dalton, who accepted a one-year contract in March. But for how long?

Fields was a 2019 Heisman Trophy finalist and was named the Big Ten’s offensive MVP in each of his two seasons at Ohio State, after leaving the University of Georgia. He posted 63 touchdowns and racked up 5,373 yards on the air, against just nine interceptions, with the Buckeyes.

The Bears are hopeful that Fields can deliver the goods where Mitchell Trubisky failed, after being selected second in the 2017 NFL Draft. And that he can establish himself in the Bears’ starting quarterback position. historically difficult to fill for the Illinois club.
