NBA News: Schedule for the 2021/22 season is set

For the 2021/22 season, the NBA is apparently planning to return to the old schedule with a season start in October and the finals in June of the following year. The coronavirus pandemic had mixed up the past two seasons.

Wie Shams Charania (The Athletic) reported, the 30 NBA teams were informed of the schedule for the coming season on Thursday. Accordingly, the regular 2021/22 season should begin on October 19, 2021. The training camp is scheduled to start three weeks earlier (September 28th).

As usual in the past, the playoffs will begin in mid-April 2022, according to the report, the date of April 16 was set. From June 2nd to June 19th at the latest, the new champion will be played in the NBA Finals before the NBA Draft 2022 is scheduled to take place on June 23rd.

The coronavirus pandemic caused far-reaching changes to the game plan in the past and current season. In 2019/20 the regular season was interrupted for several months before the season ended in the bubble in Disney World.

After only a short offseason, the 2020/21 season started on Christmas 2020. Even then, the aim was to adapt to the old schedule as much as possible. The playoffs in the NBA are currently underway, and the new champion should be determined by July 22nd at the latest.
