Chemnitz (dpa)? Basketball national player Niklas Wimberg has extended his contract with Bundesliga club Niners Chemnitz. As the club announced on Tuesday, the 25-year-old is now tied to the Saxons until 2023. “Nik has made an outstanding development over the last two years with us and with his exemplary work ethic he will very probably even get a lot better,” said Niners coach Rodrigo Pastore.
Winger Wimberg was part of the selection of the German Basketball Association for the first time last year. At the upcoming Supercup in Hamburg, which serves to prepare for the Olympic qualification, Wimberg is again part of national coach Henrik Rödl’s squad. “I’m looking forward to being part of the national team again and will gain important experience,” said the native of Oldenburg.
