MotoGP Morbidelli injured, he will not race in Assen

The Italian of the Yamaha SRT injures the same limb that had given him problems at the French GP: he is forfeit in the Netherlands

Franco Morbidelli will miss the Dutch GP scheduled for this weekend in Assen. The Italian-Brazilian driver injured his left knee in the late afternoon, the last one that caused him problems during the French GP, apparently while he was training by running on foot at the school field. The extent of the injury is still not well known, with Morbido who will be subjected to new and in-depth tests tomorrow, but from what transpires he will be out at least for this weekend.

Crusader fear

The announcement of Yamaha Petronas about his absence has already arrived: “Morbidelli was injured while training and is undergoing medical evaluation to determine the best course of action for recovery. Yamaha Petronas wishes Franky a speedy recovery”. In his place it was thought to have Cal Crutchlow race, who after retiring full time from racing this year holds the role of test driver and reserve rider of Yamaha, but we opted for no because it would make no sense that the Englishman ride a motorcycle two years ago when he is engaged in development. The hope is that the knee, injured in the cruciate ligament already at the end of last season during a training session at the Ranch, is not injured in such a way as to require an intervention, as it now seems inevitable it must happen at the end of the championship.
