MLB Rays Rich Hill reviews use dehumanizing substances

Every time more ‘noise’ is made by the subject of the new rule than Major League Baseball (MLB) has decided to implement to prevent and eradicate substance abuse by pitchers to improve their pitching. Faced with this new rule, Rich Hill, pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays, said the reviews that umpires do to them are something ‘dehumanizing‘, showing his discontent.

Rich Hill, pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays, did not hide his opinion on the MLB umpires’ review of the pitchers to prevent them from using sticky substances during their field work.

“This is something we have to deal with with a better solution. This is not baseball. This is not why people are buying a ticket to come and see it (…). I think we have to go back to the origins of the game. (…). I think everyone finds it dehumanizing, “said Hill.

Major League Baseball began with this new measure during the day of last Monday, June 21 and like Rich Hill, there are not a few pitchers who have shown their dissatisfaction at having to go through ‘uncomfortable’ reviews.

Pitchers like Max Scherzer and Sergio Romo demonstrated against the umpire corps and MLB itself by removing part of the uniform when they were requested to go through the pertinent inspection, showing what they call ‘fed up’.
