This is a sign of relaxation. Three years after his resignation from the national team, Mesut Özil wished the DFB-Elf good luck for the European Championship start against France. The 32-year-old also had a tip ready.

The rift between Mesut Özil and the German Football Association was almost three years ago. On July 22, 2018, shortly after the completely botched World Cup in Russia, the now 32-year-old announced his resignation from the German national team via Twitter. The reason for this was a public discussion that lasted for weeks about a meeting between Özil and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan shortly before the World Cup.

At the time, Özil was accused of making common with the controversial head of state and not clearly committed to the DFB-Elf. The subsequent quarrels about the Erdogan photo ultimately culminated in a social media offensive Özil, in which he accused the association officials, among other things, of not having protected him from racist slurs. The resignation followed.

Özil: “Good luck guys tonight and all the best”

But now only Özil, then the DFB, sent a sign of relaxation. The professional, who is now under contract with Fenerbahçe Istanbul, wished the German national team a successful start to the European Championship on Tuesday. “Good luck guys tonight and all the best in the 1st European Championship game against France. The group is brutally difficult, but everything is possible with a successful start,” wrote Özil, whose post after about an hour and a half already had more than 10,000 likes -Information.

About 30 minutes after Özil’s tweet, the DFB responded: “Thank you, @ MesutOzil1088!”, The association announced.
