Judo The DRC could not do better at the world championship in Budapest, Hungary
It is over with the world judo championship organized from June 6 to 13, 2021 in Budapest, Hungary. At this great planetary meeting, the judokas of the Democratic Republic of Congo were indeed present.
Unfortunately, despite all their good will, they could not do better at this world championship of the specialty. As a reminder, at this world championship in Budapest, the DRC has fielded three athletes. They are: the double gold medalist at the African Championship Marie Branser in the -78 kg / ladies category, Kalonga in the -81 kg / men category and Lotika LeBeau in the -90 kg / men category.
Lotika Lebeau was the first to step onto the tatami on June 10. He was stopped dead in the first round. Marie Branser, the great hope of Congolese judo, double gold medalist at the African Championship in Antannanarivo in Madagascar in 2019 and Dakar in Senegal in 2021, entered the running on June 11, 2021. And she was beaten in the 1st Tour letting all hope on the Congolese side fly away.
Finally, the last Congolese judoka Kalonga, also could not pass the first round. As some may notice, the World Championship is not like any other competition. It is the meeting place for the best in the world in judo.
The Congolese rd judokas have therefore not been unworthy but have fallen on stronger than them. Long before the world championship, last Thursday, June 3, 2021, the president of Fénacoju Me Bobo Mbongo participated in the Congress of the International Judo Federation “ IFJ ” to elect the new president of this body. Mr. Maruis Vizer was elected.
