This has not always been a great strength of the franchise, but several of the best defenders in NFL history wore the silver and black jersey. Even when the team has had bad defenses, they always had at least one or two players taking the load.

The team is desperate to improve their defense, which was the reason the team couldn’t make the postseason last year. Maxx Crosby he has the opportunity to be the player who makes the difference for the Raiders for a long time. He sent a very strong message to the defensive unit as he talked about the work they did in the offseason.
No more excuses for the Raiders defense
Over the past few years, the Raiders have amassed several talented defenses. In the past three drafts, the team has used five first- or second-round picks on defensive players, including one top-five pick. They have talent to work with, but they haven’t used it.
Paul Guenther was dismissed during the past season and Gus Bradley is now the one who will take the reins as defensive coordinator. He has a very good résumé and would be an improvement over Guenther. The Raiders also signed players who are very capable like Yannick Ngakoue Y Casey Hayward during the free season. There is no reason why this defense should remain mediocre, which would honestly be the fair and necessary for the team to reach the postseason if the offense continues to be good.
Who will be the one to improve defense this season?
The Raiders have several young defenders who will be under pressure to perform this season. The one who will feel that pressure the most is Johnathan Abram. The team selected three safeties in this past draft. Although Abram was a first-round pick, his irresponsible playing style will not be accepted from now on.
Bradley has had a lot of success with safeties during his career and has plans to use Abram’s talents more than Guenther. In an ideal world, the deep young man will not be in coverage frequently. it will be close to the line of scrimmage. This could be the key to unlocking your potential. He has the talent and and he works in a way that can place him within the elite of the league. If Bradley can figure out how to put him in the best positions to be successful, Abram may be the revelation for the Raiders in 2021.
