Lucas Bernardi, former OM and Monaco, appointed director of football for Newell’s Old Boys

Newell’s Old Boys, who finished last in the group stage of the last Argentine League Cup (11 points in 13 matches), have every intention of starting on a new basis. German Burgos, appointed club coach in March, is already stepping down.

While waiting to find a successor (Fernando Gamboa would be at the top of the list), the club dear to Lionel Messi has appointed the former Marseillais (2000-2001) and Monegasque (2001-2009) Lucas Bernardi as director of football. He had also joined the club based in Rosario, where he was also trained, after his long break in Monaco. He ended his playing career there (2009-2014) and won the league title in 2013 before coaching the team for a few months in 2015 and 2016.
