Friday, June 18, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in front of the Prayssac Press House in the Lot, the tireless visually impaired sportsman David Labarre dedicated his biography “The adventure as far as the eye can see” written by Jean-Pierre Alaux, this well-known Lotois author of many series but also mayor of Albas and candidate for the departmental elections this Sunday, June 20 in his canton.

The author came to present this biography dedicated to David Labarre, silver medalist at the London Paralympic Games in 2012, a character with an exceptional career.

A disabled sports champion

David Labarre is a child of Comminges, he is 32 years old. He suffered from Stargardt’s disease and lost his sight, which did not prevent him from becoming an international cecifoot player. He also practices mountaineering, glacier climbing, cycling. He has made many of the most difficult expeditions to Aneto peak, on Mont Blanc, Mount Tobkal, and for the Telethon, climbing Mount Albaron in winter. Today he wants to tackle the Himalayas and Aconcagua (6,900 m). He made an incredible strength of his handicap. It is this incredible energy that impressed Jean-Pierre Alaux and made him want to tell about this atypical journey. The book published by Elytis and prefaced by Samuel Le Bihan, in the “Great Travelers” collection, was released on September 17, 2020. Jean-Pierre Alaux today kept his promise to return with this amazing athlete to this House de la Presse de Prayssac as announced during the dedication of his book “Fontaine je ne boirai pas de ton eau” in September 2020.

They discussed together the common knowledge of champions, all visually impaired like Julien Taurines bronze medalist at the Beijing Paralympic Games in 2008 in judo, Pascale Casanova Olympic multichampion in alpine skiing 11 medals, Nicolas Moineau world champion handi-climbing all categories, who trains in Cahors but also in Prayssac. “We can only admire the course of David Labarre” added Jean-Pierre Alaux, “he repeats to me that if there was a wand which restored his sight, he would throw it away because he wants to keep his handicap. is part of him ”. At the Prayssac Press House, Philippe and Brigitte Laurens will welcome on Friday June 25, 2021 from 9 am to 12:30 pm, author Christiane Kohler-Gicollet for the presentation and dedication of her novel “Victoire ou la mémoire des femmes” .

This book is published by Edilivre. Christiane Kohler-Gicollet has already published a fictionalized autobiography: “La Mémoire Poivre et Sel” by Éditions des Ecrivains in 2002. The author takes advantage of these moments of free time to devote herself to writing her second novel, a fiction on the intergenerational role of women who have their roots in Auvergne.
