Los Angeles Lakers are looking for new athletic coaches after injury-ridden season

The Los Angeles Lakers will apparently hire a new athletic coach in the offseason. Nina Hsieh’s contract, who was promoted to the post of Head Athletic Trainer two years ago, is unlikely to receive a new contract.

This is reported by Dave McMenamin (ESPN). One of the reasons for this decision should be the many injuries in the past season with the reigning champion. Accordingly, the franchise plans to restructure the approach to player health.

The Lakers failed in the 2021 playoffs against the Phoenix Suns in the first round after Anthony Davis (groin), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (knee) and Alex Caruso (ankle) were restricted by injuries. Also in the regular season, the star duo AD and LeBron James was incapacitated for a long time due to injury, overall, the Lakers players missed 201 games loudly over the season Spotrac.

Hsieh was part of the Lakers organization for more than a decade and was, among other things, Head Athletic Trainer of the G-League team before she was first Assistant Trainer and then Head Athletic Trainer of the Lakers. She became the first woman in the four major US sports to win the title as Head Athletic Trainer with a team.
