Lorenzo Musetti has had turbulent days and weeks. But there is no time to breathe.

The 19-year-old last gave a true taste of his talent at the French Open in Paris and brought Novak Djokovic to the brink of defeat. Musetti’s preparation for Wimbledon was anything but optimal. The young man from Carrara could not collect any match practice on grass because he had to pass his high school diploma.

Last Saturday, Musetti took his oral exam at a language high school in Cecina, Tuscany. “It went well. I think I did it, “said the Italian, who has not yet received his test result, in an interview with the ATP.

Musetti’s special preparation

Now the teenager does not have time to celebrate his graduation or go on vacation. Musetti, who has not played a tournament since Paris, now directs his full focus on Wimbledon: “I will definitely enjoy playing on grass. I think that my game fits this underground ”, explained the world number 58. Musetti also emphasized that he would certainly not miss learning on the go.

In order to gain at least a bit of lawn experience, Musetti and his trainer Simone Tartarini thought about something before the school-leaving exams. Because there are hardly any grass courts in Italy, the duo have turned a former soccer field into a tennis court with the help of the San Benedetto tennis club. Musetti used to train in the mornings while studying for his exams in the afternoons. Those days seem to be over now.
