After a season in which the goal of qualifying for playoffs, Leandro Ramella agreed to its continuity with the leadership of Peñarol from Mar del Plata and will be the trainer of the professional team for the next season of the National Basketball League.
With the passing of the weeks and after having finished the season of the highest category of Argentine basketball, the Milrayitas slowly begins to profile his team despite the fact that not known yet when the category will return to action. However, what they did ensure is the continuity of Ramella as a coach and several youth players.
In the last season, Peñarol with Leandro Ramella as head of the group and in an atypical contest due to the pandemic, reaped a record of 9 wins and 11 losses. These numbers, added to the 6 wins and 11 losses at the beginning of the season with Carlos Romano as DT, and the victory with Tomás Sirochinsky and Fabricio Salas as interim coaches against San Lorenzo (16-22), did not allow the Mar del Plata team to access the playoffs for the third year in a row.
Regarding the team from the last competition, those from Mar del Plata ensured the continuity of their forward Tomás Monacchi for one more season. “I had already been talking to the club in which they were interested in me continuing. My idea was that a bit because I think I can still give a lot to the club and in sport it seems to me that it is the best place to continue growing. There were interests from other clubs but I didn’t give it much importance either because I had already decided that I wanted to continue one more year at Peñarol, ”said the 23-year-old forward in an interview with La Liga Nacional after signing his continuity.
In turn, one of the bases of the campus will be again Joaquín Valinotti, 22-year-old player who currently takes advantage of the National League stop to keep up his rhythm since he is on loan defending Ameghino’s shirt from the North Conference of the Argentine League.
In addition to Valinotti, the youths who have a contract with the institution and who would continue in the professional team of Peñarol are Lucas Gorosterrazú, on loan from Estudiantes de Olavarría, Nicolas Franco, in Salta Basket, and Thiago Dasso, a base that is adding good minutes in Riachuelo de La Rioja, also in the second category of basketball in the country.
In relation to your last starting base, Diego Gerbaudo, in the last hours his arrival in Atenas de Córdoba was made official, a team that plans to once again be the protagonist of the National League. Regarding the pivot Franco Pennacchiotti, one of the great players who stood out in the team last season, have not yet contacted him to agree on continuity, while it is still very premature to know the foreign chips, taking into account that it is still unknown when he will play again the category.
