Playmaker Bjarne Kraushaar stays with the Gießen 46ers. The young pointguard, who last took part in the course for the German A1 national team, extended his contract for another two years. The playmaker is now the fifth player in head coach Pete Strobl’s squad for the upcoming basketball Bundesliga season 2021/22. In addition, the contract of assistant coach Steven Wriedt was extended for another season.

Coupled with his attitude and the opportunity to work under Pete Strobl, we are hoping for a big leap in development in the coming months and over the season.

46ers sports director Sebastian Schmidt on Kraushaar

»We are very satisfied and happy that Bjarne will stay with us for another two years. Its development potential is not yet exhausted. Coupled with his attitude and the opportunity to work under Pete Strobl, we are hoping for a big leap in development in the coming months and over the season. As a native of Giessen, he also embodies continuity and identification at our location, «explains the managing director of sports, Sebastian Schmidt.

Kraushaar himself is happy that the contract was extended. “Being able to play in the top division for your home club is something very special. I’m looking forward to the new experiences I will gain under head coach Pete Strobl. “

The 22-year-old home grown Bjarne Kraushaar can look back on 78 BBL games despite his young age. Last season there were 30 games in the main round and three games in the MagentaSport-BBL-Pokal. The playmaker, who struggled with ankle problems during the season, turned out to be a 13-minute role-player in the league who was supposed to bring structure and playful processes from the bench to the floor. During this time, Kraushaar achieved an average of 4.2 points and 2.4 assits per game.
