Kemba Walker transferred to a 3 player trade!

Not very convincing since arriving in Boston, Kemba Walker had wanted to leave the Celtics for some time – a wish shared by the franchise. It is now done, since the leader is already spinning on the side of the Western conference.

The playoffs may well take place currently in the NBA, this does not prevent trades from being discussed… or even from happening! Transfer season is on, and the Celtics and Thunder have decided to do business this Friday. We are talking about a big exchange: indeed, two years after arriving in Massachusetts, Kemba Walker is packing his bags!

Unhappy in Boston where he did not feel wanted and struggled to display a real good level, now the former Hornets will land on the side of the Thunder. Adrian Wojnarowski gives the full details of the transaction.

The Celtics trade Kemba Walker, the 16th pick in the 2021 draft and a 2025 second round in Oklahoma City for Al Horford, Moses Brown and a 2023 second round.

A major trade with Walker heading to OKC, where he could follow, perhaps, a Chris Paul trajectory. By this we mean a quality veteran leader to guide young players. Make no mistake: this scenario remains highly unlikely, and another trade will certainly emerge, Oklahoma City being in the midst of rebuilding.

We can also underline the return of Horford in the racket of the Celtics, even if again, nobody knows if the pivot will remain very long. Brad Stevens, at the front office for barely a week, was certainly quick to take action.

This is arguably not the last move for the Celtics, after another relatively disappointing season. The franchise is already setting the tone: it will create some waves in the market!

Unhappy, Kemba Walker is already leaving the Celtics after a failed association. He hopes to revive elsewhere in 2022, and perhaps at the Thunder in order to reassure. The trading season is in any case launched.
