Judo, Juniores National Finals: silver for Leone from Palermo

The young woman from Palermo continues to amaze. The next match will be in the European Cup in July

ROME – The Junior Judo National Finals took place in Rome on Sunday 13 June, with Miriam Leone from Palermo among the participants.

For Miriam who was born in 2003, therefore the smallest in the 52 kg category, no fear. The Palermo player faced opponents of a certain international caliber, only being beaten in the final, but still winning a very prestigious Silver medal.

These challenges earned the young athlete the inclusion in the International circuit (European and World Championships) this year, but not only. At the age of 17 Miriam will receive the degree of black belt II ° dan.

The next step will be the July call-up for the European Cup scheduled in Coimbra on 3 and 4 July. Subsequently there will be the engagement for the European judo on 9 and 10 September in Luxembourg. At the end of 2021 the Judo World Championships scheduled in Olbia from 6 October.

For the young athlete this is another milestone, which is added to the prestigious one achieved in 2020 with the third place in the Junior National Finals held at the Lido of Ostia.
