Judo: Geerdts Trio from KSC Bushido successful in Denmark

Harburg / Fredericia. They are successful three Geerdts siblings from KSC Bushido returned from Harburg from the first judo competition after the corona break from Fredericia, Denmark. “We were personally invited by the host and we were very happy to finally compete in a judo competition again”, reports trainer Raimund Geerdts. “For us it is just great to be able to take part in a judo competition again”, so Bianca Geerdts, Trainer of the 3 KSC Judoka.

For the 5 year old Jenna it should be the first judo tournament participation. She started as the youngest and with her 20kg fighting weight as the lightest fighter. Your tournament group was about collecting points for different techniques. This brought her the longed-for bronze medal against opponents that were almost twice as old.

Then your older sister made a comeback Linda jean. She started off visibly nervous, but fought her way through to the final. There she met the reigning Danish champion from the capital Copenhagen, Alice Sloth Hansen. It was then the exciting, tough and tempo-emphasized fight between the two great judoka. In the end, the 13-year-old from Harburg won the fight with a spectacular throwing technique through an overview and control and secured the gold medal.

Finally brother left David Ray Geerdts on the judo tatami. For him it was the first competition since November 2019. Nevertheless, he reached the final, where he met Simon Germansen from Aarhus, to whom he had to admit defeat and was happy about the silver medal

The trainer couple Geerdts were very satisfied with the performance of their children and, above all, they were overjoyed to be back at the judo mat. The medals were then celebrated in the accommodation in the evening at the international match between Germany and Portugal.
