Judo at the 2012 Summer Olympics

Gold and silver medals were determined by a single elimination tournament, in which the winner of the final took gold and the loser silver. Judo events awarded two bronze medals. The quarter-final losers competed in a repechage match for the right to face a semi-final loser for a bronze medal (i.e., the Judokas defeated in the quarter-finals A and B competed against each other, with the winner of that match facing the semifinal loser of the other half of the bracket). The American Nicholas Delpopolo he was expelled from the Games and disqualified from his seventh place after testing positive for marijuana.
