After the silver medal achieved at the Judo World Championships which took place in Budapest, Manuel Lombardo also received a plaque from the Regional President Cirio.

Piedmontese sporting pride

In the 66 kg category, Manuel Lombardo, who grew up in Akiyama Settimo, conquered the second place in the world, beaten only by the Japanese Maruyama, who after the first place obtained in 2019, confirmed himself on the top step of the podium.

For Lombardo, however, a beautiful placement, which confirms him at the top of the world championships and, above all, guarantees him even more the pass for the next Olympic Games in Tokyo, scheduled for this summer.

Lombardo’s result was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the Akiyama house.

The recognition of the Region

But precisely for the second place in the world and the qualification for the Olympic Games, Manuel Lombardo received a plaque in recognition by the president Alberto Cirio. A great satisfaction for one of the symbolic athletes of Piedmontese sport.

Meanwhile, the confirmation of the pass for the Tokyo Olympic Games has also arrived for Fabio Basile, in the 73kg category.
