Jhonattan Vegas inscribes his name in the final rounds of the US Open

Caracas.- The Venezuelan golfer Jhonattan Vegas reaffirmed this Friday the high level he has developed in recent weeks, achieving a solid 69-stroke course, with which he not only saved the cut in the US Open, but also rose to 30th place in this ‘major’ that takes place in Torrey Pines, San Diego.

Vegas completed the second round with four birdies and two bogeys, for a global harvest of 144 touches, two on par on the Californian court.

With this performance, Maturín’s bastonista managed to climb 60 positions in the table of 143 golfers who started the contest.

Vegas, who will be the representative of Venezuela in the golf tournament of the Tokyo Olympic Games, coordinates with the FVG everything concerning his itinerary, which includes the trip to Japan from Minnesota, home of the TM Open.

Meanwhile, at the head of the tournament were the American Russell Hendley and the British Richard Bland, both with identical 137-contact cards (-5).

It should be noted that this US Open presents a really complicated route that made many high-level players not pass the cut, such is the case of the Mexicans Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz, the American Tony Finau, the Swedish Henrik Stenson, the Colombian Sebastián Muñox, British Justin Rose and Scottish Martin Laird.

This US Open, second ‘major’ of the season, continues this Saturday with the third round and 58 golfers who aspire to be at the forefront.
