The nine-time French champion Elan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez is officially owned by a group of American investors, Counterpointe Sports Group (CSG), led among others by former All-Star NBA winger Jamal Mashburn .
Monday, François Bayrou, the mayor of Pau and president of the agglomeration community, majority shareholder of the club, confirmed the sale initiated a year ago. “ We have reached an agreement with CSG for the resumption of Elan Béarnais with the necessary guarantees on both sides which will make it possible to avoid crises that we have experienced elsewhere in other sports structures. “Said the former minister. The club’s budget will be increased to seven million euros in 2021-2022 in an Elite Jeep. The sale of community shares to new owners should reach 800,000 euros.
