“It’s not a thorn, it’s a sword”

During the pandemic, a giant banner with the slogan “We will never forget you” was displayed on the side of the Vallecas stadium, accompanied by a black crepe. The phrase made more sense than ever in the celebration of the promotion by Madrid footballers. Most remembered fondly the relatives or acquaintances they had lost because of the covid, some even wearing custom t-shirts. The tears of joy were mixed with those of emotion of a team that, against all odds, turned the score around and ended up in the First Division.
