Individual and team heats tomorrow

At the European Championships in Antalya (Tur) the mixed teams of Italy stop in the round of 16. The duo of the recurvo (Tonetta-Morello) overtaken by Spain 6-2, that of the compound (Ret-Pagni) by Belgium 153-147. In the morning, after the individual direct clashes, Elena Tonetta in the Olympic and Elia Fregnan in the compound had obtained access to 1/16. Tomorrow they will be in the race together with the other Azzurri who had access to 1/16.

Tomorrow’s program also includes team matches: in the men’s and women’s Olympics the round of 16 matches will be Italy-Germany and Italy-Poland respectively. In the compound the blues in the second round with Poland and the blues in the quarterfinals with Germany.

At the European Outdoor Championships in Antalya (Tur) the mixed teams of Italy fail to reach the matches for medals, both eliminated in the round of 16.

LE SFIDE MIXED TEAM – The mixed Olympic arc with Elena Tonetta and Marco Morello were stopped by Spain (Canales-Acha) 6-2. The Iberians won the first set 37-35, the Azzurri went to 2-2 in the second half (35-36), but then lost the following two sets 39-34 and 38-36. Previously the airmen Tonetta and Morello had overtaken Azerbaijan (Ramazanova-Aliyev) 5-1 by 1/12, winning the first two sets 36-34 and drawing the third 35-35. Spain then won the final for gold against Russia. The bronze will be played by Poland-Turkey.

Even in the compound the Italian adventure stops in the second round. Sara Ret and Sergio Pagni were stopped by Belgium (Prieels-Kools) 153-147. In practice, the Belgian duo managed to win all the partials, already reaching +4 at the end of the second volley, not allowing the Azzurri to return to the game. Belgium will also go for gold with Estonia, while the final for the bronze will be between Germany and Turkey.

I MATCH INDIVIDUALI – That the day would not have been very profitable for the blue colors was also understood by the individual elimination rounds in the morning. In the Olympic arc only Elena Tonetta and Elia Fregnan in the compound had access to the 1/16 finals.

Starting from the curved one, the standard bearer of the Air Force took the field at 1/24 beating the Austrian Riess 7-3 and tomorrow she will face the Moldovan Mirca. Instead, her teammates stopped. Tanya Giaccheri won at 1/48 with the Lithuanian Romanauskate 6-0, but was then beaten by the Austrian Straka 7-3. Vanessa Landi took the field directly at 1/24 where she lost 6-2 to the Danish Degn.

As for the men’s compound, Valerio Della Stua came out losing by measure in the first round against the Portuguese Alves 142-141. To avenge him at 1/24 was his teammate Elia Fregnan, who got the better of Alves 146-140 gaining access to 1/16 where he will challenge the Dutch Pateer. Sergio Pagni, who had obtained direct access to the third round, also discovered his challenger: it will be the Hungarian Orosz.

This morning the 1/24 of the women’s compound also took place, but the blue, who had obtained a good score in qualifying, had already had access to 1/16. However, their challengers of tomorrow have been defined: Irene Franchini with Savenkova (Rus), Sara Ret with Zikmundova (Cze) and Marcella Tonioli with Jaatma (East).

TEAM CHALLENGES – Tomorrow, Thursday 3 June, in addition to the individual matches that will reach the semifinals, there will also be direct team clashes from the second round to the semifinals. Italian trio also on the field. In the men’s recurvo Frangilli, Morello and Belli face Germany (Weckmueller, Unruh, Wieser), while the female trio with Tonetta, Giaccheri and Landi face Poland (Smialkowska, Tobolewska, Zyzanska).

In the men’s compound also Pagni, Fregnan and Della Stua will face Poland (Gorczyca, Konecki, Przybylyski), while the blue Tonioli, Franchini and Ret will start from the quarter-finals against Germany (Boehnke, Meissner, Walter).
