“I know I look like a genius”

Since the essence of geniuses is often to be misunderstood, many players can consider themselves as such, after seeing their surprising choice of team bear fruit. That’s just what a Suns player just did.

They were definitely one of the teams to watch this season. Despite this, few observers dared to announce them so loudly. Authors of an excellent offseason, the Suns are now reaping the rewards. Qualified for the Western Conference final after a violent sweep from the Nuggets, Monty Williams’ men will be able to patiently wait for the outcome of the series between Jazz and Clippers.

Absent from the postseason a year ago, the franchise has notably been able to regain the heights thanks to its recruits from last summer. The most significant arrival is obviously that of Chris Paul, but others are also proving valuable. Among them, that of Jae Crowder, on which the latter returned to a press conference this Sunday.

Jae Crowder on signing for the Suns: “I know I sound like a genius with my decision. When I took it you should have seen how many messages I got like, ‘What are you doing? Why are you going to Phoenix? They haven’t played in the playoffs for 10 years! ‘ “

Coming out of a stint in the Finals with the Heat, the 30-year-old winger had no shortage of options. Highly coveted in the league for his 3-and-D player profile, he finally opted for Phoenix a few weeks before the resumption. A choice certainly driven by the arrival a few days earlier of CP3 in the Arizona franchise.

Despite this favorable context, Crowder was taking a certain risk by joining a simple underdog team for the title. Now, no one seems able to question their choice. And if he can already be satisfied with the course of PHX, he probably still hopes to do better than with Miami last year.

Privileged target on the market, Jae Crowder took the bet to join the promising Suns. It took him well, since he can now have fun talking dubiously about his decision.
