Seongnam City (Mayor Eun Su-mi) hired a human rights expert for the first time in the country and started operating a human rights violation counseling center for the Workplace Sports Team from June 1.
The counseling room was set up at the sports center in Seongnam Sports Complex in Seongnam-dong, Jungwon-gu, where the Workplace Athletic Club is located.
A human rights expert with experience in counseling, investigation, and statement analysis who majored in criminal psychology conducts one-on-one in-depth interviews with players who want counseling.
The psychological state, stress, depression, and anxiety levels are diagnosed, and if human rights violations are revealed during the counseling process, the company conducts its own fact-finding investigation.
In addition, it carries out various tasks such as the development of policies to prevent and protect human rights violations.
When necessary, the city opens the Workplace Sports Department’s personnel committee to take minimum reprimand and maximum dismissal measures for perpetrators, and take measures such as changing work locations, ordering paid leave, and subsidizing treatment costs.
Seongnam City is strengthening the human rights protection measures of the Workplace Sports Department following the death of triathlete Choi Sook-hyeon.
On March 15, Seongnam City Hall revised the rules for the establishment and operation of the Workplace Sports Department and introduced the prohibition and disciplinary provisions for workplace harassment.
Seongnam City Hall Workplace Sports Department consists of 106 players in 10 sports, including track and field, hockey, fencing, ice skating, bowling, taekwondo, tennis, badminton, boxing, and table tennis for the disabled.
