Historical qualification for Nuevo León to Tokyo 2020

For the first time in its history, New Lion classifies so far 12 athletes and two judges for the Olympic Games and they will be those of Tokyo 2020 those who receive this number of athletes in disciplines in which Mexico had not even had a presence.

The week was good news for the Nuevo Leon representatives as the names of the athletes were confirmed. The list can still grow.

The divers, born in Nuevo León, Diego Balleza, Andrés Villarreal and Juan Manuel Celaya, who were forged in the municipal school of Monterrey by the Cuban Rolando Prieto and continued their sporting growth in different ways, managed to sign their names in the Olympic places that were obtained throughout the process.

Villarreal will go in the Individual Platform test 10 meters, while Balleza will partner with Kevin Berlin in the Synchronized 10 Meter Platform and Celaya will compete alongside Yahel Castle in the Synchronized 3 meter springboard.

The representatives of Nuevo León, Carolina Mendoza and Osmar Olvera also confirmed their names when they won the Technical Control called by the Mexican Swimming Federation. Mendoza will go in Synchronized Trampoline 3 meters with Dolores Hernández and Olvera in Individual Trampoline 3 meters.

Those from Jalisco and representatives of Nuevo León Rut Castillo Y Haramara Gaitán they also got their tickets. Castillo in the modality of rhythmic gymnastics and Gaitán in badminton.

Castillo will present Mexican rhythmic gymnastics for the first time on the Olympic stage. Castillo won his ticket to Tokyo 2020 after winning the Pan American Championship of the specialty held in Rio de janeiro Brazil.

Meanwhile, the badminton player Gaitán will be present at the Olympic tournament by winning her ticket via the ranking of the International Federation of the discipline. Gaitán and the capital Lino Muñoz they will be Mexico’s competitors in the Olympic fair.

For her part, the cyclist Victoria Velasco, 18 years old, without making too much noise, endorsed the title of national champion of the Omnium test in the National Selective called by the Mexican Federation of the discipline and with it confirmed her name in the Aztec delegation for Tokyo 2020.

And in horse riding, Jumping Contest, the Mexican Equestrian Federation released the list of classifieds for Japan in which the Nuevo Leon rider Eugenio Garza stands out, who contributed to Mexico winning the Olympic place in the past Lima 2019 Pan American Games. Garza will direct the reins of Armani SL Z.

The Mexican team will be made up of the experienced Enrique González, who will lead the reins of Chacna, while Manuel Gonzalez will be with Hortencia Van de Leeuwerk and Patricio Pasquel with Babel.

The list of classifieds for Nuevo León also includes José Luis Sánchez of sports shooting, who achieved his Olympic pass by winning a medal in the JP of Lima 2019; Kenya Rowing lettuce, winner of the 2021 Pre-Olympic in Brazil; Y Diego del Real, hammer thrower, who gave the Olympic mark and won his test in the National Athletics Championships, a mandatory event to reaffirm the athletes’ Olympic passes.

THE REMAINING

From this list, the names of the soccer and baseball professionals, disciplines in which Mexico is classified but have not yet defined the national team, remain to be confirmed.

At the moment, the soccer player Carlos Rodríguez and the second baseman of Sultanes de Monterrey, Ramiro Peña, are in the preliminary call.

SANCTION IN TOKYO

They will also be in Tokyo 2020, but sanctioning the actions of the competitions, the judges Bella Balboa in women’s artistic gymnastics and Everardo García Montelongo.

The Olympic Games will run from July 23 to August 8 in Tokyo, Japan.
