Kaymer Y McDowellAccording to the press release released today, “they will bring extensive experience and knowledge to the dressing room since both starred in crucial moments in the Ryder as players ». KaymerA two-time tournament winner, he will become vice-captain for the first time in his career after four appearances as a player (2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016), in which he earned 6.5 points.

The German has been on the winning team three times, becoming the protagonist in one of the most famous comebacks in sport history, the ‘Miracle of Medinah‘, in 2012, with an unforgettable putt. In addition, he will return to a field that he knows perfectly, since in Whistling Straits conquered the PGA Championship in 2010.

McDowell will be vice-captain for the second time, after collaborating with Thomas Bjorn in the 17.5-10.5 victory against state United on The Golf National from Paris, in 2018. Graeme He has also participated in four editions of the Ryder Cup (2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014), with nine points in 15 games, among which the winning point in The Celtic Manor Resort in 2010.

Harrington has welcomed them thus: «I am delighted to have Martin Y Graeme as vice captains, I think they will bring experience, knowledge and balance to the locker room. «Martin He is someone I loved as a vice captain because he has a great personality, brings calmness and a lot of confidence. The fact that you have won in Whistling Straits it also brings that level of authority and security that you need. And for Graeme I made up my mind a long time ago. He was vice captain in 2018 with me and I liked his work in the team. He’s an authoritative voice, he’s confident in what he’s doing, and he knows the stage. The only reason he would not have been vice captain is that he would have been a player.

Kaymer, the ‘novice’ in these struggles, thanked him for his choice: «When Padraig He asked me, I was very honored. It means a lot to us Europeans, especially to me as a German, and I don’t forget the winning putt of 2012. I would have loved to be part of the team in any position. Before Harrington he asked me to be vice captain, I was trying to get in as a player and I still want to do it, but it honors me and says a lot about what the captain and the whole team think about you.

“I admit that it took me a while to say yes because it is a responsibility and when I do something, I want to do it well, so we talked about the role I would have on the team. I am not the type of person who likes numbers and statistics. I am more about talking with the boys, about personal things, on the mental side. I am calm playing golf and through my experience, I know what first-time players go through. Ryder or those who have played the most times. I understand your feelings well, “he concluded.
