Two years after being promoted to the basketball league, the Towers are one of only two German teams in the Eurocup.
Hamburg. Two years after their promotion to the basketball Bundesliga, Hamburg Towers will also play internationally in the coming season. The team received a starting place in the Eurocup. This was announced by the Basketball Bundesliga BBL on Friday evening.
A total of 20 teams are represented in the most prestigious European basketball competition behind the Euroleague. The second Bundesliga team next to Hamburg is ratiopharm Ulm.
Hamburg Towers in the Eurocup: this is how the competition works
For participation in the Eurocup, not only sporting criteria are decisive. Team can also be invited. The Towers, which reached the playoffs for the first time last season, took seventh place in the Bundesliga.

The preliminary round of the Eurocup is played in two groups of ten. 16 clubs move into the knockout phase, starting with the round of 16. This means that Hamburg will have at least 18 European Cup games in addition to the Bundesliga games.
