Good finish in Ulstrup: Badminton boys won bronze

Ulstrup: Despite a season where the corona influenced much of the association life, it went really well when Ulstrup IF Badminton’s U17 / 19 boys participated in the Danish championships for teams on Sunday 24 May.

Team matches consist of four singles matches and two double matches. The matches were played in Ry Hallerne, and the first match against Grindsted / Tarm ended with a victory for Ulstrup 4-3 after a golden set 21-15. Second match, Jernløse won 4-3 after a very close golden set 21-23.

– This meant that Ulstrup finished second in the pool and had to play for bronze against Vissenbjerg, which Ulstrup won 5-1. It turned out later that Grindsted / Tarm, which the Ulstrup boys beat in the initial pool, ran away with the victory and won the Danish Championships, says Bo Jensen from Ulstrup IF Badminton in a press release.

The badminton season 2020/2021 was hit hard by corona restrictions, and therefore the youth team tournament only managed to play two rounds, and it ended up that the team tournament was completely canceled.

When the young players had to come to the hall again, it was decided to make an unofficial Danish championship for teams.

– In Ulstrup IF Badminton, the young players and their coaches had started outdoor training long before they had to come to the hall. So we registered U17 / 19 Mix and U17 / 19 4 girls for the Danish Championships for teams, but unfortunately the girls team did not play because there were too few registered teams, but the boys came into battle and came home with bronze, says Bo Jensen .
