Gommiswalder Judokas score in Morges

The national judo tournament in Morges counts for the national ranking and thus for the qualification for the Swiss championship. The field of participants was correspondingly strong, in which the two judoka of JJJS Gommiswald put themselves in the limelight.

Podium among the U18s

The tournament went very well for Sarina Kaufmann in the U18-48kg category. She won the first two matches with the highest rating Ippon and was in the semifinals. There she had to admit defeat after a Waa-zari leadership against her opponent from French-speaking Switzerland.

In the ensuing fight for third place, Kaufmann didn’t miss any more, countered the uchi-mata (thigh throw) of her opponent with Ippon and thus won the bronze award, which earned her another four ranking points.

Further points

In the U18-63kg category, Sandra Kühne met a strong opponent from Germany in the first fight, who surprised her after a long draw with Ippon-Seoi Nage.

With two subsequent victories, which Kühne achieved with O-soto-gari, her special technique, the young athlete from JJJS Gommiswald was in the small final for the bronze medal against Anika Zünd from JJJC Weinfelden. Until shortly before the end of the fight, none of the fighters could achieve a decisive point. In the end, the better condition made the decisive difference. Zünd attacked resolutely with O-soto-gari and the Gommiswalderin had to admit defeat.

With fifth place, Kühne was able to book two more points on her ranking account.
