French Open: Barbora Krejcikova reaches finals in singles and doubles

Barbora Krejcikova has the chance of a rare »double« at the French Open. After the Czech made it into the final of the individual competition on Thursday evening, she also made it into the final in doubles a day later. At the side of Katerina Siniakova, Krejcikova celebrated a 6-1, 6-2 win over Magda Linette and Bernarda Pera (Poland / USA).

Krejcikova will face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova from Russia in the individual final on Saturday. In doubles on Sunday, Iga Swiatek / Bethanie Mattek-Sands (Poland / USA) or Irina-Camelia Begu / Nadia Podoroska (Romania / Argentina) will fight for the title.

15 hours later she was back on the square

On Thursday evening, the 25-year-old had beaten the number 17 seeded Greek Maria Sakkari 7: 5, 4: 6, 9: 7 in a thrilling semi-final. After 3:18 hours, she used her fifth match point, having previously fought off one of Sakkari’s. 15 hours later she was on the pitch for the semi-finals in doubles, for which the Czech and compatriot Siniakova were again the favorite, as she had already won two Grand Slam tournaments in doubles.

Should Krejcikova also win the final against Pavlyuchenkova, she could again achieve something extraordinary the next day: French Mary Pierce was last able to celebrate a double out of a single and double success in Roland Garros in 2000.
