A well-known name in the world of Le Coadou judo, the Le Coadou family practices the discipline diligently from generation to generation. Registration is open to practice at the Georges-Bernanos home run by the family.
The family perpetuates the values instilled by Roger Le Coadou within the oldest judo club in Le Havre
Here we go again ! Pre-registrations for the start of the school year are open in the oldest judo club in Le Havre still in operation: the foyer Georges-bernanos. A club on a human scale which remains very family-oriented. It was in fact Roger Le Coadou who created the judo section there in 1968.
And the passion was passed on: son David is now president of the club and his brother Mickaël, teacher. The latter has always been keen to restore his father’s values to the club’s licensees, including his three children. “The main value that my father instilled in me is tenacity, despite the hard knocks and there have been some, we have always raised our heads. And then we were all brought up in associations. I have always been taught to be available for others, to lend a hand, and whether it is my family, the licensees or me, we have become jack-of-all-trades for the good of the association where it is a family atmosphere reigns. “
A family of black belts
His wife Gwenaëlle also got down to it. “I started in judo in 1999 when I met Mickaël, after having been trained by my father-in-law, I continued with my husband’s trainer. I am a brown belt, but I do not despair of joining the black belt club like all members of the family. “
The couple’s children, 16-year-old Alwena, 18-year-old Eleobane and 20-year-old Loevan, all holders of multiple French championship titles in different disciplines, practice in the continuity of their grandfather’s teaching. “We have all known our grandfather since he passed away ten years ago, the values we retain from him are respect, honesty and self-sacrifice. The club lives through him, and it is I who will take up the torch to continue the work carried out by all the people who make up and who have made the club famous ”, Loevan reports.
