Fedogolf works to massify the sport and bring back the PGA

For Carlos Elmúdesi, President of the Dominican Golf Federation (Fedogolf), “having organized the discipline from the initial level to what we can exhibit today”, identifies it as one of his main achievements at the head of the entity.

In the same way, the challenge is to leave the Golf Academy formed and for more players to federate.

The future of Dominican golf

One year after finishing his term, affected by the pandemic, Elmúdesi is working on the future project for the discipline: the formation of the Golf Academy, for which “we do not rest doing the errands until we achieve the objective of massing golf youth, creating the conditions for children to be motivated ”.

In addition to the academy, he understands that in order to achieve this objective, more youth events must be mounted, and said he expects the support of the government and private business sector, “without whose support it is impossible to achieve it.”

He indicated that golf began its organization in 1966 when the Dominican Golf Association (Adogolf) was founded, which later became a federation.

The idea of ​​its formation was the initiative of Ignacio Guerra, who chaired the first board of directors together with Jack Corrie, first vice president; Ramón Báez, second vice president; Ulises Castillo, treasurer; Jaime Blou, secretary, and members Bernardo Pichardo and Dionis Bernal.

Adogolf, was originally integrated by the Santo Domingo Country Club, Bella Vista Golf Club, Santiago Country Club and Romana Golf Club. 55 years later, Elmúdesi presides over it and is made up of the La Altagracia associations (AGLA); The Roman; National District; Santo Domingo Province; Monsignor Noel (Bonao); The Vega; Santiago; Puerto Plata and San Pedro de Macorís (SPGA).

In 2011 a commission made up of Luis Jose Placeres, Hugo Molina, Héctor Lizardo and the Rafael Villalona who presided over it, modified the statutes prohibiting reelection, which was certified by the notary lawyer Neftalí Santana and because of his commissioning, it makes it impossible for a president to complete the Olympic cycle, as established by the International Olympic Committee.

Elmúdesi, who took the reins of the institution in the period 2019-2022, points out as his main achievement in 2021 the realization the 54 National Championships, the National Youth Tour and the National High Performance Tour (Canita Tour), and has on the agenda the junior, youth and amateur tournament, planned for the months of August, September and October, respectively.

There is also the celebration of the 12th version of the “Dominican Republic Golf Open Amateur” to be held from October 5 to 10 of this year in Casa de Campo with the presence of local and foreign golfers “of high competitive level”, with which Fedogolf completes its activity calendar for the year.
